LASIK & Cataract
As a board-certified ophthalmologist, I am trained to provide you with all your eye care needs - medical and surgical. My goal is to protect your sight through early diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions with state-of-the-art equipment.
A cataract is a progressive clouding of the normally clear natural lens in your eye. The blurry lens in your eye can cause issues with night driving, color perception, reading, or performing daily activities. This develops over a number of years, causing your vision to become more blurry and distorted as the cataract increases in severity.
Most cataracts develop slowly, increasing over time and causing your vision to become more distorted and blurry the longer the cataract remains untreated. During the beginning of cataract development, your vision can be improved by using stronger light or eyeglasses to correct your distorted vision. If your vision begins to impair your ability to perform daily activities, it may be time to consider cataract surgery.
Fortunately, cataract surgery with Mohsin Cheema, M.D. is an incredibly safe and comfortable experience. Dr. Cheema offers a number of intraocular lens options to replace the clouded natural lens in your eye, restoring your vision and improving your eyesight.
Utilizing the latest technology available in the ophthalmology industry, Dr. Cheema and his team offer a number of intraocular lens (IOL) options to our patients, including the state-of-the-art AcrySof® IQ PanOptix® Trifocal IOL, AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL, and TECNIS® Symfony® IOL.

Glaucoma is known as the silent thief of sight as it often leads to a progressive, irreversible loss of sight without any symptoms. Surprising to most patients, glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness for individuals over 60 years of age, not cataracts.
Glaucoma is a disease that affects the optic nerve in your eye. This is caused when the fluid in your eye builds up around the optic nerve at the front of the eye. Much like a clogged drain, the fluid causes increased pressure in your eye without being able to drain properly.
There are two major types of glaucoma, each with their own specific treatments. The first, and most common, is primary open-angle glaucoma. This is caused when the fluid in your eye cannot drain properly, causing an increase in pressure that can damage your eye’s optic nerve.
The second major type of glaucoma is angle-closure glaucoma (also known as closed-angle glaucoma, or narrow-angle glaucoma). This occurs when the patients’ iris is close to the drainage angle of their eye. The iris can block the drainage angle of the eye, causing the pressure to build rapidly.
